You might have noticed it has been a little quiet around here!!
If you follow me on Facebook or Instagram you know that I was diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of the summer. As shocking, and as devestating as the news was, I made it through the dark clouds with the amazing support of friends and family. (seriously the amount of support we received physically, emotionally and even monitarily, is almost too much for me to talk about...it was overwhelming...I felt, and continue to feel, the love!) My Doctors are very confindent that we will find me to be Cancer free (in November) so it is hard not to jump on their positivity bandwagon! And I am feeling SO great!!
Because of my diagnosis, I spent the entire summer having chemo and radiation treatments and in turn the summer of 2014 became what we called the "bummer summer". I was not able to do all of the things that I would normally do during the summer......play with my kids.....go to the beach (although I snuck down there a few times).....have fun outings....go to the gym or standup paddle. My cameras all sat on a shelf while I willed myself to carry on to the next day. I'm not going to lie...it sucked. (my kids had an AWESOME summer thanks to my AMAZING girlfriends who picked them up every morning and treated them as they were their own....I could not be more thankful for that!!)
Four weeks after treatment was done I was told by the doctors I could resume normal life. It was an undescribable feeling to be told I could live again!! (I can't tell you how excited I was just to go to Trader Joes!!) The following weekend was a perfect Southern California day so we piled the kids into the car with the paddle boards and celebrated playing at our favorite spot!! And of course I brought my camera along! It felt so good to pick up where I left off.
